The fact is most of the people have a blog just to share its life to others or perhaps as a way to release some thoughts spite of noone would ever care to read them. Having said that writing is quite therapeutic, it’s a way to discharge some steam or simply to be able to document their life story. Well for me, it’s all of that. but the problem is I’m spending heaps of money every year on the blog without getting any monetary return or at least for the blog to sustain by itself.
So new goal: Make the blog to sustain by itself.
Let’s check the numbers, the minimal operational costs of the blog are:
- Domain name: US$12.99 (Godaddy)
- Web Hosting: US$$119.4 (Dreamhost)
- Website maintenance: $60 (estimated $5 per month, includes plugins, backups, time spend updating, fighting the annoying malwares, etc.)
Total yearly costs:US$192.39
Yes it looks like a very little amount, but it’s not if you consider that the blog generate it by itself!
How to make a blog profitable even though you are not selling anything?
The answer is quite simple but difficult to perform, you either become a hub of knowledge or offer some kind of online services. Well if you keep reading my blog, you’ll see I’ll try to achieve both concurrently.
